Programs & Services
The Health District has three major departments as well as support staffing to those departments. Many of our activities are mandated by the State of Connecticut. We enforce the Public Health Code of the State of Connecticut and have a local ordinance pertaining to cosmetology salons.
Health District staff is on-call 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
The Health District is required to provide an annual report to the State Health Department, annual reports to both towns and provides a monthly activity report to both towns. The Health District attends department head staff meetings and development services meetings in both towns.

Community Health
The Community Health Department is staffed by a professionally trained Registered Nurse Board Certified in Community/Public Health Nursing and a health educator. This department is committed to improving the health of the community by partnering, supporting, and working closely with community members.
This department monitors, investigates, and provides control measures for communicable disease in order to reduce their spread; they provide outreach and education to the public, schools, businesses, etc.; and act as a referral source to the public.

Environmental Health
The environmental health division is staffed by professionally trained public health sanitarians. This department is responsible for enforcing the public health code of the Connecticut Department of Public Health. This department focuses on promoting human health and well-being, and fosters a safe and healthful environment.
